The story   ·  物語

Why this scent exists.

Miyagi Heat is the warmth of an onsen alley at twilight: saffron, incense, nutmeg, and amber rising through mineral steam. A spicy resinous scent for cold months and quiet evenings.

Miyagi Heat sits warm and intimate on the skin — a spicy resinous solid perfume built around an alley in Naruko Onsen at twilight, when the bathhouse steam catches the lantern light.

It opens with saffron — sun caught in the steam, slow and gold. The heart is the alley itself: incense from a wayside shrine, nutmeg from a late kitchen, the warmth of a paper lantern overhead. The base is amber — the kind that holds onto a memory, the trail behind a cotton yukata after the bath.

Best worn: cold evenings, candle-lit dinners, anytime you want a long warm exhale.

Naruko Onsen

Miyagi · Tōhoku

Miyagi Heat is a meditation on Naruko Onsen — the mineral hot springs of Tōhoku, where wooden ryokan crowd narrow alleys and the steam from the baths rises into cold mountain air.

Naruko sits high in the Miyagi mountains. In autumn the maple forests turn around it and the onsen steam thickens. The alleys between the inns smell of mineral water, cedar smoke from late-night kitchens, and slow incense from the small wayside shrines.

We tried to bottle that walk at twilight — saffron sun caught in steam, nutmeg and incense from a passing doorway, amber holding everything close.

FAQ

Quiet questions, answered.

How long does the scent last?

On skin, Sayuri balms project close-to-body for 3–5 hours and leave a soft dry-down that can linger up to 8. Because the formula is oil-based, the scent stays intimate rather than filling a room.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

Yes — our base is organic beeswax, jojoba, shea and cocoa butter, with no alcohol, parabens, or synthetic fixatives. We recommend a small patch test on the inner wrist if you're new to solid perfumes.

Can I fly with it?

Yes. A Sayuri compact is a solid, not a liquid, so TSA/EASA liquid rules don't apply. It tucks into a coat pocket or the corner of a carry-on.

How should I store it?

Keep your compact out of direct sunlight and below 25°C / 77°F. If it ever softens in heat, let it rest in a cool spot overnight — it returns to its original texture without losing scent.

Is it cruelty-free?

Always. No animal testing, ever. Our beeswax comes from small Japanese and European apiaries that practice sustainable hive management.
