私の恋人  · the story

Late afternoon in the wagashi shop.

The story   ·  物語

Why this scent exists.

Watashi no Koibito is the warmth of a Kyoto wagashi shop at golden hour — rice and red bean, jasmine and cherry blossom, honey and vanilla. A gourmand-floral love-note for spring and autumn afternoons.

Watashi no Koibito sits warm and gourmand on the skin — a soft floral-sweet solid perfume built around a Kyoto wagashi shop at golden hour, when the wagashi-maker shapes namagashi in the late afternoon light.

It opens with the kitchen behind: rice, sesame, and milk like a warm bowl of okayu, brightened by shiikuwasa lime and a leaf of tulsi. The heart is the wagashi themselves — honey, red bean, jasmine, and cherry blossom layered like the small handmade sweets on the counter, edible artworks the size of a coin. The base is what stays after — honeysuckle from the courtyard, white musk warm from the fire, vanilla like cream at the bottom of a cup.

Best worn: spring and autumn afternoons, tea ceremonies, anytime you want to carry tenderness with you.

City of inspiration 京都・東山

Kyoto · Higashiyama

Kansai · Wagashi country

Watashi no Koibito (私の恋人, ‘my sweetheart’) is a love letter to a Kyoto wagashi shop — the small handmade sweets that sit beside matcha and have shaped Kyoto's afternoon for centuries.

A wagashi shop at four in the afternoon is one of the gentlest places in Japan. Late golden light through the shoji screens, fine flour drifting through the air, the wagashi-maker shaping namagashi by hand on the counter — small edible artworks the size of a coin.

We tried to bottle that exact afternoon: warm rice and sesame from the kitchen behind, red bean and honey from the freshly-made manju, jasmine and cherry blossom from a bouquet on the counter, vanilla and honeysuckle holding everything in soft sweetness.

FAQ

Quiet questions, answered.

How long does the scent last?

On skin, Sayuri balms project close-to-body for 3–5 hours and leave a soft dry-down that can linger up to 8. Because the formula is oil-based, the scent stays intimate rather than filling a room.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

Yes — our base is organic beeswax, jojoba, shea and cocoa butter, with no alcohol, parabens, or synthetic fixatives. We recommend a small patch test on the inner wrist if you're new to solid perfumes.

Can I fly with it?

Yes. A Sayuri compact is a solid, not a liquid, so TSA/EASA liquid rules don't apply. It tucks into a coat pocket or the corner of a carry-on.

How should I store it?

Keep your compact out of direct sunlight and below 25°C / 77°F. If it ever softens in heat, let it rest in a cool spot overnight — it returns to its original texture without losing scent.

Is it cruelty-free?

Always. No animal testing, ever. Our beeswax comes from small Japanese and European apiaries that practice sustainable hive management.
